You’re Not Lazy — You’re Emotionally Exhausted

The Strange Quiet After a Loud Week

Anime-style illustration of a young woman with warm brown eyes and a messy bun sitting on a bed in a sunlit room, holding a mug, with shopping bags and a book nearby, capturing the calm quiet after a busy week.

Last Monday, I was drowning in lists, phone calls, luggage and panic.
And yes, I wrote about that Monday too.
This Monday, the house is quiet.
Suspiciously quiet.

Last week was full of schedules and appointments, one after another. And a few not-so-fun surprises as well.

And then suddenly, Saturday came and everything became quiet.

I bet you’ve been there — you’re busy as f*ck with the kid, the house, work and everything else, and you keep telling yourself, “If I could just have some time, I would do this or that.” Something you genuinely want to do but never seem to have time for.

Well, last Saturday my little one went to the seaside with both of his grandmothers. My partner was still in the hospital, and I was alone. Completely alone. Even the cat wasn’t there.

It felt strange. Like suddenly you can do absolutely whatever you want… but somehow you don’t.

I started cleaning. It helps me put my mind in order. And then, at some point, I told myself I was absolutely crazy for spending my rare free time cleaning instead of actually taking a break.

So I put on a top and shorts and went shopping.

I bought myself four bags. Four! So proud.

After that, I enjoyed my book. But I have to admit, I spent a good part of the day simply lying in bed with my phone.

In the evening, I went for a long walk with friends. It turns out I had missed my hometown more than I realized. A few raindrops started falling and somehow made the whole walk feel even more magical. I loved it.

The night ended with a romantic comedy and my book.

Maybe I am slowly learning that rest does not always have to look impressive.

Saturday was quiet in a way I had almost forgotten. Sunday was different.

Sunday morning was so slow that, for a moment, I thought I had the whole day to myself.

Nope. Reality knocked on my door. Well… on my phone, actually.

My partner was being released from the hospital, and I had to go pick him up and bring him home.

So, no breakfast for me — and I absolutely do NOT miss that!!! I stopped halfway through my Pilates, called a friend with a car, and just like that, I was back in the usual rhythm of my life.

At least my partner has to spend most of his time lying down for now, so we happily said hello to my beloved K-dramas.

And honestly, it feels so much better to have him home.

The moment he came back, I realized just how much pressure I had been carrying inside me.

Apparently, I still have a habit of noticing how empty my battery is only after I finally stop.

Maybe that was why I didn’t know what to do with all that freedom on Saturday. My body was resting, but some part of me was still waiting for the phone to ring.

I love being alone. My inner introvert gets so excited and happy about it that I can’t even describe it.

But having a family is a different kind of love. I need them around, even if from time to time I need to escape for a little while and recharge my batteries.

And I guess, at this stage of my life, one day is more than enough.

The quiet was wonderful. I needed it.

But now I honestly cannot wait to hug my little boy again.

Maybe that is the strange thing about quiet — sometimes we need it just long enough to start missing the noise.

Maybe Your Story Belongs Here Too

Sometimes we crave silence. Sometimes, once we finally get it, we realize how much we miss the noise.

If you have ever needed to escape for a little while just to recharge — from motherhood, work, relationships, responsibilities or simply life — I would love to hear what that looks like for you. 🤍
