This is not a perfect story. This is my messy mind.
A soft space for anxious, exhausted minds.
I write about OCD, intrusive thoughts, burnout, motherhood, and the messy process of feeling like myself again.
If your mind feels loud, your body feels tired, or you’ve been blaming yourself for not doing enough — start here.

It’s Monday and I’m Already Behind
It is Monday and I already feel like I am chasing the week instead of living it.
My calendar is full, my brain is fuller, and somehow I am still expected to remember what we need from the supermarket. I have been here before — watching the clock, chasing the list and somehow believing I can squeeze just one more thing into the day.
Well, somewhere between all those things running through my mind, my brain suddenly went blank. I think it simply decided it was done dealing with my stress and shut itself down, leaving my body to handle the panic instead. Stress has a funny way of reminding me that my mind and body are not separate machines.
What can I say?
Monday is always full of work and surprises, but today was on another level. A level invented by someone who apparently wanted to test the limits of a mother trying to work with her mother-in-law while on her period, deal with phone calls, buy last-minute things for the seaside (and no, I am not going there to take a break), and prepare all the luggage.
Oh, did I mention that my little boy asks me every other minute if we are heading to the seaside yet?
Wouldn’t it be fantastic if I could swap places with somebody else for just an hour or two?
Preferably someone lying on a beach.
No, wait. The period.
Okay. A hammock. My book. A nice breeze and a cold drink. That will do.
Since this is not happening, I am going to take everything we absolutely do not need out of the car, including all the rocks and sticks we — and by we, I mean my little one — have apparently collected as super essential travel items.
I will continue packing and pray for my soul that tomorrow will be a better day.
I might help that happen by turning off my phone.
Anyway, underneath all this ridiculous Monday chaos, there is also the part that is not funny at all.
I am going back to my hometown, and unfortunately this trip includes medical tests, doctor appointments and even surgery.
Chin up. We can do this!
(I guess “we” means all the personalities I apparently respond to now. This is new. My therapist will be thrilled! Just kidding — my OCD is already enough.)
So I am leaving the perfectionist aside and making room for the messy mind that somehow always finds a solution.
I don’t really need perfect.
I need enough to feel good.
Maybe that is something I am still learning every time my battery gets dangerously close to empty.
I am focusing on the finish line, taking things one at a time, and choosing to believe that everything will turn out okay.
Maybe Your Story Belongs Here Too
This week, my version of “messy” looks like phone calls, luggage, appointments, work, motherhood and trying very hard not to lose my mind somewhere in between.
What does yours look like right now?
If you feel like sharing it, I would love to hear from you. No perfect story required. 🤍
