The Kind of Weekend I Needed
I don’t think I realized how much I needed a weekend where
nothing was expected from me.
I spent it at home, and I loved it.
Saturday started with delicious pancakes and a large cup of
green tea.
After that, we enjoyed a movie with our little boy. Lots of
hugs and laughter.
Lunch was fast and tasty — pasta for the boy and something a
little healthier for me.
Our little boy was sleepy, so he went to his tent and took a
nap.
As huge fans of K-dramas, Veni and I sat down to watch a
series, but apparently the series ended up watching us because we both fell
asleep too.
No expectations, no schedules. Just enjoying the day.
I even managed to do some yoga.
A cold watermelon made our afternoon even better.
Maybe I am slowly getting better at noticing these small joys instead of rushing past them.
Later, it was time for a walk in the park. Our boy enjoyed
playing with some kids on the playground while we simply enjoyed being outside.
We decided we didn’t want to cook dinner, so we ate out.
It was a fantastic day.
On Sunday, we left our little one with his grandparents.
We spent a huge part of the day cooking.
We chopped wood.
We took another nap and watched a movie.
We even had some beautiful red tomatoes in the garden, so I
went out and picked them.
I took some time to take care of myself too.
No pushing. No rushing.
I have written before about what happens when I push myself too far. Maybe that is why weekends like this feel so important now.
It was a great balance between home chores and relaxation.
And I realized something.
I don’t need a hotel, a cozy room or luxury to feel rested.
I need a calm day. Time to listen to my body and my mind.
Time to move my body without pressure. Time with my family.
Don’t get me wrong — I love traveling far too much.
But I am learning to accept this period of my life, when
home is where I am needed most.
And maybe staying home doesn’t always mean I am missing out.
Sometimes, it is exactly where I need to be.
Maybe your kind of rest looks completely different from mine.
Maybe it is a quiet morning, a long walk, cooking, gardening, sleeping until noon, or doing absolutely nothing at all.
Whatever it is, I would love to hear about it. 🤍
